In Fond Memory of Shel McDonald

Shel McDonald
1943 - 2000

I just got the news, but on November 17, Shel McDonald left us for greener pastures.

I'll miss ol' Shel for a number of reasons. His sense of humor was exquisite. He would only submit one caption a day, yet his humor was noticed by many. Several times, that single caption won the hearts and minds of his fans.

He was a fun guy...with a lot of dreams. He brightened many folks' days with his on-line lotto sites; places to go and try your luck without spending a dime.

He loved life, and was even more charming in person. I had the distict priviledge to help him develop some of the artwork on his sites. He always knew what he wanted, yet he always gave me the freedom to expound on his ideas.

He was a humorist, a poet, and a humanitarian. I expect that he is telling jokes in Heaven...even as we speak.

Goodbye, Shel...until we meet again,

- PAR
"This is sad news. I only knew Shel through his captions and I already miss them. I can only imagine the brightness he brought into the lives of those who knew him personally."

- Ebdug
"Goodbye Shel. Your captions were a treat. My heart goes out to your family in this time of loss. May their holidays bee filled with your loving memories."

- Janet 'Bee Spit' Boyd
"How very sad that such a wonderful talent has left us. I enjoyed his captions immensely. He will be missed by all of us. His family and friends will be in my prayers, that the Lord give them strength and encouragement during this time of grief."

- Mike Gray
"I'm sorry...I did not know. It is even more sad to suffer the loss of a loved one during the holidays. And, although, I did not know Shel very well, I thoroughly enjoyed his entries here (as I do everyone's).

"A lot of us 'regulars' here have become somewhat of a family over the years. So, when there is any kind of 'loss,' we ALL feel it.

"We miss you Shel, RaLF, and Mary. But, we know you are in a better place, now...all together...looking down on us and smiling."

- Peggy S. Simoni
"He will indeed be missed; his intelligence and wit made each visit to the site a treat."

- Bob Lacey
"What a tribute your life has been to everyone you touched Shel. I can tell you were a warm and wonderful person. We'll miss you and your great humor.

"God bless you and keep your family."

- Kathy Learning
"'And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow, and quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.'

"Goodbye Shel"

- Joe Seitz
"I, too, enjoyed Shel. This is sort of like a little family here. Everyone has their own particular place where they are "coming from", which makes it all the better. Shel added much to it. You are going to be missed, Shel."

- Phil 'derGoat' Rogers
"I'm sorry to hear about Shel. I never really knew him, but enjoyed his sense of humor. May the Lord give comfort and peace to all who loved him."

- Trudy McConnell
